New 30-Minute Coronavirus Test Has Been Developed by Oxford Scientists

New 30-Minute Coronavirus Test Has Been Developed by Oxford Scientists According to TechCrunch, the new test is three times faster than the previously-fastest methods.

Researchers say it may even be able to provide earlier diagnoses for patients in the beginning stages of infection.

The new test, with results that can be "read by the naked eye," has already had a 100% success rate after testing 16 subjects at the Shenzhen Luohou People's Hospital in China.

Since the new technique requires simpler equipment for both the testing and interpreting of results, it has the potential to be deployed to areas that have less resources.

The Oxford science team is also considering a way to integrate a hardware design that would allow the test to be "used at clinics, airports or even for home use." Further steps will be required before the test is approved for broader use.
