Harrison High School Sophomore Hunter Heltzel is providing free meals to students who usually get their meals while at school.

Difference in the szalavari reports, sophomore hunter heltzel has been making sack lunches for students who usually get their meals at school.

With school corporations closed across the area due the coronavirus, many students are unable to get meals they usually get at school.

Harrison high school sophomore hunter heltzel is changing that.

Nat: lunchbag rustle he's providing sack lunches for students affected by the closures.

Heltzel: "i think we made 200 to about 300 yesterday."

The meals include baked goods, oatmeal, fruit cups and a sandwich.

Heltzel: "they have a peanut butter and jelly or ham and cheese."

Heltzel got the idea when he saw another student's parents worrying about not being able to provide them with meals.

Heltzel: "they said that their mom was freaking out, you know, thinking that they might have a hard time feeding their kids for the next couple of weeks.

And i thought this would be a good way to help out people in my community."

Heltzel says this is a problem several families in the community are facing.

"parents that need to feed their kids throughout the week that weren't expecting this to happen and you know, they don't have a meal for them or having a hard time providing for them right now."

The recent shortage of goods in stores has made getting supplies tough.

But that isn't slowing heltzel down.

Heltzel: "next week we're probably just going to go out monday, tuesday, wednesday and buy two or three loaves at a time so we can help with the next week and the couple weeks coming up."

Heltzel says knowing that he's making a difference makes it all worth it.

Heltzel: "to have those families come by and to see the smiles on their faces and the gratitude and everything, it really felt amazing."

Heltzel plans to provide meals as long as schools remain closed.
