Cruise and the Coronavirus

A lot attention focused on the cruise industry.

Some quarantined for weeks and cdc suggesting you should not get one of the cruises.

>> speaking of cruise, one just docked in downtown charleston earlier this morning.

Brooke schwieters was out there and still out there speaking with people and letting us know what the general feel is out there.

People concerned, panicked or calm, ready to go home?

>> i think mostly just calm and ready to go home.

We saw a lot of thumbs-up, saw people smiling and people really having enjoyed the vacation on this five day cruise.

Sunshine carnival cruise that arrived earlier here this morning.

Thousands of passengers disemparking from this cruise earlier this morning.

Where this company took a lot of extra are precautions when it came to preventing any sort of spread or any precautionary things and filled out a health questionnaire upon boarding the ship.

I spoke with two sets of passengers avid cruisers.

One of them told me carnival went above and beyond sanitizing the ship, leaving food handling to crew members.

She felt safer on the cruise than wal-mart.

Another set of passengers said they felt safe but said more could probably have been done.

>> some people talked about it and everybody is concerned and want to be cautious but i didn't feel unsafe or at risk at all because they are always clean and stepped up and gone over and above what they normally do.

>> it was the same.

I think they do a decent job.

I didn't see anything extra, not really.

>> usually they have people that spray the stuff on your hands.

They didn't have that at all.

They have hand sanitizers and do yourself.

>> all on your own and had to look for it and thought they should have been there making it happen.

>> right now the cdc recommending travelers, particularly those with underlying health issues defer all cruise ship travel worldwide.

This is an ongoing precaution from the cdc.
