Artesia residents are experiencing a severe dry spell.

Thanks for joining us tonight.

One of the town's main water lines broke causing a shutdown of the system, and homes and business to lose water.

City clerk teresa sanders says workers will begin repairs in the morning.

Residents should have water back in their homes before noon.

Until then, citizens should be prepared to use bottled water..

Centred up one mississippi woman says she was threatened with fines and jail time for offering an online weight- loss program.

Now--she's suing the state.

Donna harris wants to help folks lose weight.

She has a bachelor's degree in nutrition and is a certified personal trainer ábutá she isn't a registered dietician.

As courtney ann jackson explains, that's what's feeding the problem.

Donna harris was shut down when she recently tried to kick off an eight week weight- loss program.

70 people had signed up on her website.

"they were eager to learn how to lose weight in a healthy way."

But the mississippi state department of health told her stop what she was doing immediately---or she would face a fine or jail time.

They say she can't offer advice outside of government- approved guidelines like the food pyramid without having a license.

She says those who planned to participate were shocked.

"they all replied with well we know you're not a licensed dietician.

We know that.

You didn't claim to be.

So, we think it should be our right to decide who we want to pay for weight loss information."

She says she would need 12- hundred hours of training to become a registered dietician and it would involve work that wasn't relevant to helping already healthy individuals without medical needs.

The mississippi justice institute says it's more than disappointing---the y it's state censorship of her free speech.

"as americans and as mississippians---we have a right to engage in speech about what healthy adults should buy at the grocery store whether we're paid for that speech or not...period."

So---they've filed a federal lawsuit challenging that.

"donna's situation is emblematic of a much larger problem in mississippi.

We should be encouraging people like donna to follow their dreams, to start businesses, to create jobs and to teach people how to eat healthier.

We should not be putting unconstitutional red tape in their way."

Centred up in governor tate reeves' state of the state address, he noted a desire to see red tape reduced surrounding regulations for starting businesses.

The coronavirus continues to be an issue of concern all across the country..

Here in the u-s..

Six people have died from the illness..

But the coronavirus is also impacting people in other ways... mississippi state university is taking precautions with it's study abroad programs as students get set to travel to countries where it's been detected... our quentin smith speaks with university leaders about the concerns and plans.

So quentin... what are they saying... scott, msu has two people who are currently in countries where cases of the coronavirus have been reported.... they have not come in contact with the virus... but this summer more students are scheduled to study abroad in some of the countries that have been hard hit.

That has msu closely monitoring the illness to determine if future study abroad programs will be impacted..

From china.... to washington..... to mississippi state university... the coronavirus has people everywhere talking.... " we're trying to balance a healthy respect for this virus and what it could turn into and not getting into over reaction and panic."

Msu chief communications officer sid salter says the university has a faculty member in south korea and a student in italy through study abroad programs. those countries are reporting rises in coronavirus infections.

Though they haven't been diagnosed with the illness, salter says they're encouraging them to follow protocol from the centers of disease control when heading back to the u.s. " we are strongly suggesting that those that are returning from international travel in the affected area to self isolate for 14 days which has been the cdc and other health experts recommendation."

This summer more students are scheduled to to take their studies to affected countries including italy, france, japan, and south korea.

Salter says they're closely studying the potential impacts the coronavirus could have on their travels to those areas.

" we're looking at obviously academic impacts because were balancing safety between plans that students and the faculty members have made,l and how this would impact them in the long term if the study abroad opportunities are something that they need to complete their education."

So far, the university has not canceled or rescheduled any travel or classes in the programs..

" i think a lot of students and their families are concerned that programs would be canceled in panic weather than in a fact base situation.

We're not going to do that, we're going to balance any decision we make a bow study abroad with the state department says, what the cdc says, what the mississippi state department of health fairs, and will make out decisions after due diligence."

For those who are concerned about the coronavirus and want more information on it, the university has put helpful information about the illness on its website... just visit ms state dot edu... take developing story stinger voters in 14 states head to the polls tomorrow for party primaries in the presidential race.

For democrats the stakes are high, nearly one third of the delegates needed to nail down the nomination are in play..

And the race is tightening - the battle for south carolina claimed 3 casualties, leaving the rest of the field scrambling for votes and endorsements.

Cbs's ed o'keefe has a preview..

Nat vo klobuchar today as early as this morning, senator amy klobuchar was telling her supporters not to give up: i would like to note i'm in the top 5 of vote totals now.

But this afternoon she was out.

And tonight, she, along with pete buttigieg...who dropped out yesterday, plan to endorse senator joe biden at a rally in texas.

It's meant to consolidate the moderate wing of the democratic party and blunt the momentum of senator bernie sanders.

I think there's an awful lot of people who are running for office who don't want to run with bernie at the top of the ticket as a self proclaimed socialist.

One endorsement still on the table -- that of president obama.

Biden tells our caitlin huey- burns he hasn't asked for it: i really believe it's important that i demonstrate that i earned this on my own biden is on a roll after a big south carolina win -- a primary that drew the highest democratic turnout ever.

His crowds and fundraising have both seen a boost.

Just a few months ago pundits declared my campaign dead.

Then came south carolina!

But senator sanders is still the national front-runner-- polls show him ahead in delegate- rich california and texas, -- and neck- and-neck with senator elizabeth warren in her home state of massachusetts.

It is clear to me that the corporate elite is getting very nervous about our campaign.

And they are doing everything that they possibly can in every way to try to stop us former ny mayor michael bloomberg, who says he's not going anywhere, spoke with both buttigieg and klobuchar today: i thought both of them behaved themselves, is a nice way to say it, but they represented their country and their states very well.

And i felt sorry for them, but i'm in it to win it one other good sign for biden - he raised about 10 million dollars in the 24 hours after his after his south carolina primary win.

But sanders and warren have raised tens of millions in recent months.

And they're all dwarfed by bloomberg, who's spent at least 500 million so far and appears on a ballot for the first time tomorrow.

Hi, i'm dr. richard heard, part of the gastroenterology team at baptist memorial hospital, golden triangle.

I want to talk to you about colon cancer.

The colon is the last section of your intestines, also known as the large intestine.

It helps you to absorb the water and nutrients that you swallow.

The colon commonly develops small growths in it called polyps, similar to moles the on your skin.

When these polyps are allowed to grow without removing them, they can turn into colon cancer.

Colon cancer is more common than you think, and everyone is at risk for it.

The lifetime risk of developing colon cancer, according to the american cancer society, is 1 in 20.

You may be at increased risk if you have a family history of colon cancer, especially a parent, sibling, or child.

If any of these have certain types of polyps or are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 60, your risk is even higher.

An inactive lifestyle is also a risk factor, as is obesity.

Smoking and alcohol abuse increase your risk.

Living healthy and avoiding these risk factors can help decrease your chances of developing colon cancer.

African americans are at higher risk for colon cancer than other races, so much so that the american college of gastroenterology recommends they begin screening early, at age 45.

Join us next time for health talk with baptist when we will discuss how to prevent colon cancer.
