The Northeast Indiana Human Resources Association is trying to bridge the generation gap in the workforce.

There's a call to action to help bridge the gap between millennial employees and those who are a little more seasoned in the workforce.the northeast indiana human resources association is doing its part to help facilitate that.

Age gaps in the workplace can sometimes be difficult to deal with.

The northeast indiana human resources association, also known as "nihra" is tackling the problems first hand.

"one of the things that's never gonna change is the fact that there's gonna be multiple generations in the workforce.local employees from construction to recruiting agencies gathered at ramada plaza for a development session called, "stop managing your millenials."

Nihra invited participants of all ages, some newly employed and some more seasoned.hannah hewes//nihra session participant "i think it's important for recruiters to have a variation of questions when asking candidates because an older generation is going to have a completely different perspective on things and how they go about things rather than a younger generation."the speakers hit key elements that often cause conflicts among multi-generational employees.

Older generations often view the next as being less competent and entitled.

Younger generations often view the previous as behind the curve.amanda branstrator//n ihra session participant"i think that the kids nowadays don't respect their elders as much as they should, and i think that's been a big obstacle for them in the workplace."the speakers also focused on improving communication and compensation transparency so all ages are motivated to work as a team and with purpose.so learning how to understand them working with each different generation and what they need is gonna be very important."though age gaps exist, they don't have to cause problems in the work place.

Nihra emphasized that our own needs manifest themselves differently depending on when people were born.
