14 someone broke into a dorm room and stole a laptop, eventually ditching it in a nearby creek.

Say a recent snatch and grab in a dorm has them concerned for their safety.

They tell me they want more security on campus.

Friday night someone broke into a dorm room and grabbed an eleven hundred dollar laptop and took offã eventually ditching the laptop in a nearby creek..

Chico state police quickly caught the suspect and say he is not a student.

One student i spoke with says he recently had his bike parts stolen and would like the school to beef up patrols.

Sam goad/chico state student: i think we should have more security on campus, there aren't a lot of people at night who can help if something happens.

Gabrielle hair/chico state student: i feel safe on campus but hearing that makes me feel less safe, i definitely don't want my laptop stolen.

So i hope when it comes to the dorms they get better at letting people in who are supposed to be in there.

University police officials say they are still trying to figure out*ho* the man got into the dorm.

The university police department says unfortunately theft is something they deal with frequently.
