Parents, Caretakers And Grandparents To Blame For Child Poisonings

More than half of children under age five poisoned by pills ate them after an adult removed the childproof packaging.

The deadly medications frequently ingested by children include those used to treat diabetes or cardiac conditions.

A new study, published in the Journal of Pediatrics, analyzed the reasons behind 4,496 calls to poison centers.

The study found that when adults take meds out of tough-to-open containers they are putting kids at risk.
