Scorching Temps And High Winds Bring Renewed Wildfire Threats To Australia

Large areas of southeast Australia are bracing themselves for a days-long heatwave.

The scorching conditions threaten to stoke bushfires that have been burning in the region for months.

New South Wales has been one of the hardest hit by bushfires, which started earlier than usual in September.

The blazes have burnt out more than 11.7 million hectares across Australiaโ€™s most populous states.

The unrelenting blazes have killed at least 33 people and about 1 billion animals and destroyed 2,500 homes.

Fire danger warnings were issued on Thursday for several areas in South Australia state.

Temperatures are forecast to exceed 104 Fahrenheit with winds of 22 miles per hour.
