WHITE BUTTERFLIES FLYING OVER WHITE GAURA FLOWERS STORY: Mesmerising footage showing clouds of butterflies flying through a private garden in the Johannesburg's suburb Sandton, South Africa was posted on Tuesday (January 28).

They were posted by Allison Koch and Fiona Melrose, who are part of the gardeners' team.

Melrose, who filmed butterflies floating over flowers in slow-motion, is a novelist, also.

"I wrote about this annual butterfly migration in a scene in my novel 'Johannesburg', in the book it's a very dreamlike scene so to have my fiction unfold in reality it was strange and beautiful," Melrose told Reuters.

"I felt their presence was too special not to capture," horticulturalist Allison Koch said.

Koch said the migrating butterflies stopped "to feed on the nectar of many of the flowers in the garden but were particularly attracted to the Heliotropium and Gaura".
