Outrage after Chinese theme park forces pig to bungee jump

This is the distressing moment a pig was forced to bungee jump off a 223ft-high tower at a theme park in southern China, causing outrage.

In the disturbing video, filmed in the city of Chongqing on January 18, the 100kg pig, attached to a rope, is pushed off a high tower by a worker, and squeals.

A man in the video is heard saying: "The pig is so scared.

Such a pity." Theme park staff said they carried out the stunt to mark the upcoming Lunar New Year.

They insisted that the pig was unharmed and was then sent to the slaughterhouse.

The video caused anger online and netizens questioned if it was animal cruelty.

One person commented: "Have they ever thought about the pig's feeling?

It is better to kill it directly." Another one said: "I advise we tie the theme park workers up and push them off the tower to let them feel it as well.

The theme park later issued an apology.

"We were inconsiderate to host the activity and we will not have this kind of activities anymore."
