Carole Ghosn said they live "day by day," but added that they feel safer in Lebanon than in Japan, where Carlos had been held under house arrest.

Two weeks ago he mysteriously escaped to Lebanon, and is now considered an international fugitive.

Carlos did not disclose how he escaped, but said it was the result of "fast planning" and "fast acting."
