Three dead including boy, 2, after mass shooting at shopping mall in Thailand

Three people, including a two-year-old boy, were killed and at least five seriously injured after a gunman opened fire at a shopping mall in Thailand on January 9.

The masked man burst into the Robinson store in Lopburi, around 150km north of Bangkok, at around 9:00pm local time.

He is said to have shot dead a security guard followed by a young woman working at a gold jewellery store before a two-year-old girl was shot.

The two staff died at the scene and the girl died later at hospital.

At least five others, including one tourist, were seriously injured and rushed to hospital.

The gunman was seen fleeing on a motorcycle before police arrived on the scene, believed to have been there to have robbed a gold store inside the mall and leaving with valuables.

Police Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen said the police know the suspect's identity and are currently searching for him.

Pattanacharoen said: "The police are now patrolling all areas and are looking for the man.

Witnessed have described his appearance and we know his identity.

"Moreover, we sent the force to the scene inspecting evidence including fingerprints.

"We will take this extremely seriously and if the gunman resists the arrest the police will shoot him without hesitation."
