Utica Proctor Football team honored at Wednesday's Common Council Meeting

The 2019 Raiders went the farthest any Proctor Football team has gone, making it to the State Regionals in Mahopac.

Full house at tonight's utica common council meeting and it was for a good reason.

The utica proctor football team was honored for their outstanding season this fall.

The team finished with a 9-0 regular season, a trip to the sectionals and their first section iii championship in thecarrier domn at-large spot in the state regionals.

We caught up with head coach steve strife who says he feels the support from the city of utica every step of the way.

"oh man the community was awesome, the sool district s awome, the support was unbelivable.

I was getting calls from proctor gduates from 1946, the mayor, the police department, the fi department sending us off it was an awesome experience."

"we went to the state championship it's uncharted terriotory forroctor.

The football team has never made it that far d it wagreat experience.

We had to travel 3 1/2 hours to get there and we'veever had travel experience for us you know teamtes and coaches especially such a great team even though we didn't come up short it was a great day."

The team was honored with a proclamation read by city council woman samantha colosimo
