'Two-faced': Trump reacts to Trudeau's gossip

U.S. President Donald Trump claims that banter between world leaders about him, caught on camera, happened because Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was upset about a confrontation with the American over NATO spending levels.

The conversation between the leaders of Canada, France, the Netherlands, the UK, and Princess Anne was filmed at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (December 3).

Much of the conversation is inaudible, but it happened after Trump finished an unusually long press event alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

The event was expected to last only a few minutes.

At Buckingham Palace, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked Macron, "is that why you were late?" "It was like a 40-minute press conference," Trudeau interjects.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Forty minutes." Trudeau also said he saw White House aides' "jaws drop to the floor" during the wide-ranging question and answer session.

Trump told reporters on Wednesday (December 4) that Trudeau was "two-faced" and angered that the president "called him out" over Canada's failure to contribute the recommended 2% of GDP to military spending as a NATO member.

Trump's comments came during another photo-op with Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel.
