Pathetic 'poor bastard': Trump reacts to O'Rourke leaving race

Beto O'Rourke has ended his 2020 election campaign.

At a rally in Mississippi on Friday, President Trump belittled his former opponent and the "sick" media coverage of congressional Democrats' impeachment probe.

"Oh that poor bastard.

Well, that poor pathetic guy, he was pathetic," Trump said of O'Rourke.

The president went on to joke about the Texan's "arms a flailing" speaking style and said that he "made a total fool out of himself." O'Rourke announced the end of his candidacy earlier that day.

A former congressman, O'Rourke was struggling to qualify for the next Democratic debate after months of poor showings in opinion polls and lackluster fundraising.

Trump was hosting the Keep America Great rally to support Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves' gubernatorial campaign.
