I spoke with students here and the chancelors office about the new law.

Standup: by the year 2023 the state will require all student health centers in the csu or uc system to offer abortion medication for all their students jaime: "i think a lot of females are put into situations they cant help and sometimes the outcome they don't want it and they cant afford to go to the hospital or a real doctor to get an abortion cause its too expensive, because were college students" diane jaime is a chico state student she says this law will make it easier to get that medication.

Jaime: "the campus is safe space for a lot of people so it's just easier to have it accessible because they don't have to reach out or anything."

The law says the state recognizes abortion as a basic health service covered by medi-cal, medi- caid and private insurance.

Rodriguez: "it gives a new option for college students i know a lot of my friends who are day to day, dollar to dollar.

I have a lot of female friends here theres certain instances that they cant necessarily control."

Action news now asked the chancellors office of the csu what they think of the law they say "the health and well being of our students is a priority and we appreciate the intent of any lawmakers who share the same priority" maganada: "i think it would really help a lot of the students who cant afford medical insurance and have a really hard time trying to get to planned parent hood.

Planned parent hood in chico is very far from campus personally me, its been hard to get."

A special fund will train staff at the health centers& ultra machines will also be purchased.

Rodriguez: "gives better resources for them especially if they know they're not ready for anything like that especially being in school and having to drop out if they end up having a kid" i reached out to about a dozen students... all of them said they i reached out to about a dozen students... all of them said they were in favor of the law... no one i spoke to was opposed to it.
