Sun Prairie police are investigating an overnight shooting.

It's 6:5 .... time for the morning sprint -- with a number update you on as you start your wednesday.

We begin with christina lorey -- on scene of a shooting in sun prairie.


Police won't confirm if they have someone in custody but say the public is not in danger after a shooting overnight.

We are here at park circle, just off of main street in sun prairie, where officers were first called at about 10-30 last night.

In a tweet ... sun prairie police confirmed they're investigating a shooting.

Dane county dispatch says one person was hurt.

But right now, they're not telling us the condition of that person.

Police do believe this was a targeted shooting.

We're following more breaking news... as iranian state television says the islamic republic is launching a surprise military drill near the country's border with turkey.

This comes after president trump took american forces out of the area.

For years, the kurds have fought isis alongside u-s troops.

Kurdish leaders are calling president trump's decision to pull troops quote "tragic..."

A resolution supporting the f-35 fighter jets... is headed to the state assembly tomorrow madison's truax field is one of five locations being considered for the jets.

Republican lawmakers sponsoring the bipartisan resolution say the jets could help keep truax field open-- and add more jobs.

But north-side neighbors have warned about the jets affecting their quality of life.

Also tomorrow - the full assembly will vote on rule changes that would allow a democratic lawmaker to phone into committee meetings when he can't attend in person.

Representative jimmy anderson is paralyzed from the chest down... and had requested accommodations in january.

He also threatened to sue, saying republicans were violating the americans with disabilities act.

Another pair of bills would establish protocols for handling sexual-assault kits.

The senate overwhelmingly approved the proposals yesterday.

They would require nurses to notify officers within 24 hours of collecting the kit, and police would have to send it to the state crime lab within two weeks.

The other bill would require the state justice department to track those kits.

The mayor is speaking up about high levels of a certain chemical found in a madison creek.

The d-n-r found p-fas in starkweather creek, on the east side... the state journal reports they measured in at about 15 times the proposed limit for gound-water.

Mayor satya rhodes-conway reiterated the issue doesn't pose a threat to madison's drinking water.

The n-b-a is trying to mend its relationship with china after a controversial tweet from one of the league's employees... houston rockets general- manager daryl morey -- showed support for protestors in hong kong... in a now-deleted tweet that set off a firestorm in the communist country.

The chinese basketball association is suspending its relationship with the team.

Bucks guard sterling brown won't be settling a lawsuit with the city of milwaukee over his arrest in january of 20-18.

A legal document says brown will deny the cy's 400- thousand dollar settlement offer.

Brown filed a lawsuit accusing police of using excessive force... and targeting him because he's black.

It stems from an incident when officers confronted him for illegally parking.

The janesville school district is condemning the actions of students caught on video... hitting and yelling at a classmate on school property.

Members from an anti-bullying group say this is another reason why the district needs to adopt a stronger stance against bullying.

The school district says it provides resources for students who feel like they've been a victim of bullying.
