Alleged SteelStacks climber in court for preliminary hearing


We begin with the berks county man who scaled an old blast furnaces steelstacks in bethlehem back in court today.

Jonathan wallace was at the center of the 21 hour long standoff with police negotiators last month wfmz sarah madonna is live at the northampton county district court with more on his preliminary hearing.

Wallace was all smiles today entering court despite the fact that he's unable to post the $15,000 bail and remains in jail.

Even if he was able to bail out his defense attorney says as of now he has no permanent address.

It is now listed as homeless.

Wallace is charged risking a catastrophe reckless endangerment and trespassing stemming from the july incident that not only put himself great risk, but law enforcement as well they kept emergency responders at day for 21 hours before finally climbing down from the blast furnace both the defense and prosecution are trying to work out a plea deal for mental health treatment, the case could be moved to a mental health court.

His defense is trying to work out an agreement that would get him released from jail and allowed him to live with his father in delaware.
