A man sings "La Marseillaise" one hundred years on from the Peterloo Massacre

One hundred years on from the Peterloo Massacre a solitary figure sings the "La Marseillaise" while soberly waving a red flag on August 16 in Manchester, UK.

The man commemorates the incident in which mounted police charged with sabres drawn into a group of between 60,000 to 80,000 protesters demanding reform of parliamentary representation.

The incident caused 18 deaths and between 400-700 injuries.

The man in the video sings the French national anthem as the Peterloo Massacre took place just four years after the Napoleonic Wars ended which had caused many years of economic strain in the UK.
