New Protests Erupt In Hong Kong As 44 Activists Are Charged With Rioting

Hundreds of people surrounded a Hong Kong police station chanting “free the martyrs,” Reuters reports.

44 activists were charged with rioting following weekend clashes between protesters and police.

It was the first time rioting charges were used during protests which erupted over an extradition bill.

Near daily protests have disrupted business, piled pressure on the city’s government and stretched its police force.
