Man Surprises Brother at Anchorage Airport After 20 Years Apart

Two brothers had an emotional reunion at Alaska’s Anchorage International Airport on July 24 after being separated for two decades.

Footage from Isabel Godoy captured the moment her father surprised his brother at baggage claim.

Godoy’s father, an Oregon resident, and her uncle were both traveling to Alaska to visit their mother, who has cancer.

The two moved to different parts of the world more than 20 years ago, and their paths haven’t crossed since.

Godoy told Storyful that her father arranged to arrive on a flight that got in a few hours before his brother’s.

His brother wasn’t expecting to see him for another few days, Godoy said.

He waited at baggage claim for his sibling to arrive, and sneaked up behind him for the ultimate surprise.

Godoy told Storyful that wasn’t her father’s first time looking after a family member with cancer.

She said that in 1999 her parents moved to Alaska for a few years to take care of her father’s sister, who eventually died as a result of the disease.
