Streets Flooded Off Lake Pontchartrain as Barry Weakens Over Louisiana

A surge produced by Tropical Storm Barry on Saturday, July 13, left streets flooeded in Mandeville, Louisiana, after the storm made landfall in the state as a hurricane.

This footage shows people wading through the floodwaters in Mandeville, which lies on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, as homes and restaurants are inundated.

The National Hurricane Center confirmed that Barry had strengthened from tropical storm to a hurricane before making landfall, and said it would bring life-threatening winds and flooding to the Gulf Coast.

It later reported that Barry had weakened back to a tropical storm.
