Water is rushing over the top of levees protecting plaquemines parish south of new orleans.

This dramatic drone video shows the levee being overtopped near the town of myrtle grove... as the floodwater pushes into the parish.

State officials say they're concerned about how long the levee can hold up before it gives way.

Nearby homes have been evacuated.

The water is rushing toward highway 23.

If authorities are forced to close the highway... it would cut off a 50-mile stretch of road that runs south all the way to the town of venice on the gulf... leaving everyone stranded in between.

Also flights to and from -new orleans' louis armstrong international airport- were canceled across the board today although, the airport remains open for those stranded passengers waiting in terminals to find out details of rescheduled flights... the last arriving and departing flights were late friday.

Delta, american airlines, and united had planned to do some flights this morning but the weather was worse than expected... so far, allegiant air is the only airline that has canceled flights for sunday.

The airport is advising travelers to monitor their airlines website for the latest information on flight changes.

The weather has not slowed down an investigation where we are learning more about a shooting in calhoun county ... derma police chief -stephen faddock- says gunshots fired around 2 am on church hill street... 2 people were injured from the bullets... but faddock says neither of them received life threatening injuries... right now the derma police are following a few leads and conducting interviews... they hope to be able to update us on this investigation soon.... people in bruce are thankful that the rain held off long enough for them to enjoy the city's annual saw mill festival.

Vendors included artists, musicians, and organizations.

There was a little something for every member of the family.

Rodney gregory is an artist and a vendor at the saw mill festival for the first time.

Gregory says from what he saw this weekend, the festival is a great thing for bruce.

"i think it is good to just bring people out and bring people together.

Im also sure it is good revenue for the town, a lot of people coming from all around down here."

The event also included a 5k run that took place this morning and political speakers throughout the day today.
