Tropical Storm Barry Storm Surge Floods Streets in Jean Lafitte, Louisiana

Streets in Jean Lafitte, Louisiana, with “limited flood protection infrastructure” had begun flooding in the early hours of July 13 ahead of the landfall of Tropical Storm Barry.

A mandatory evacuation order for the town was reported two days earlier, on July 11.

Footage seen here shows a truck carrying sandbags said to have been delivered from New Orleans, as well as flooded street in Jean Lafitte.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm would bring “life-threatening storm surge inundation” along the Gulf Coast, long-duration heavy rainfall, flash flooding and river flooding.
