Six months after being acquitted by Pakistan's top court over false blasphemy charges, Asia Bibi has left the country for Canada, according to her lawyer.

Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman, had spent eight years on death row.

She was convicted in 2010 of making derogatory remarks about Islam after arguing with neighbours about a cup of water.

They didn't want her to drink from their glass because she wasn't Muslim.

Her case has outraged Christians worldwide and sparked angry protests in Pakistan.

When she was released in October hard-line Islamists rioted on the streets and called for her to be killed.

Bibi had been staying at an undisclosed location under tight security.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had said previously his country was in talks with Pakistan about helping her.
