Cyclone Fani Flooding Swamps Land Around Puri

Large stretches of land around the city of Puri in India’s Odisha state were under water on May 4 after Cyclone Fani made landfall the previous day.

The cyclone was the strongest to hit the region in 20 years and brought wind speeds of up to 180 km/h.

Thousands of people were evacuated from the state before the cyclone made landfall.

The cyclone hit West Bengal as a cyclonic storm and was expected to hit Bangladesh on Saturday afternoon, the Times of India said.
