TEASER: Nadler gives Barr one last deadline to give Congress the unredacted Mueller report After a tumultuous week that saw Attorney General William Barr fail to appear at a scheduled House hearing..

....Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler... said he's giving Barr one last chance to hand over Special Counsel Robert Mueller's full, unredacted report..

Or face possible charges of contempt of Congress.

In a letter released Friday, Nadler gave Barr until 9am Monday to comply with a subpoena demanding the full Mueller report and underlying evidence from his two year investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 presidential race..

The ultimatum comes a day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused Barr lying to Congress about his handling of the report..... Barr had initially told Congress he didn't know what Mueller thought of 4-page summury of the report, failing to mention a letter he received from Mueller voicing reservations..

That's a crime." Reporter Andy Sullivan is following this story.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) REUTERS POLITICAL REPORTER ANDY SULLIVAN SAYING: "There's a lot of heat and noise around this whole kerfuffle right now.

You've got Pelosi accusing the nation's top law enforcement official of committing a crime for lying to Congress saying he wasn't truthful when he was talking about his interactions with Mueller before he released his report." The last ditch effort by Nadler comes as some Democrats are calling for Barr to resign.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress have dismissed Nadler's efforts as political theater intended to satisfy a progressive voter base before the 2020 general election.

And on Friday -- after a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin... Trump again dismissed what Mueller found to be a sweeping effort by Russia to influence the 2016 race... (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAYING: "I call it the Russian hoax.

No collusion, no obstruction, a total hoax."
