ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said on Tuesday U.S. House panel chair Jerrold Nadler is trying to score 'political points' with his subpoena of former White House counsel Don McGahn.

"It's pretty clear what Jerry Nadler and others are doing here.

They don't want to get to the truth.

They want to get to this president," Gidley said.

Nadler on Monday subpoenaed McGahn to testify before the panel in its investigation of possible obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump.

In a statement, Nadler, a Democrat, said the committee had asked for documents from McGahn by May 7 and for him to testify on May 21.
