According to a report by Business Insider, the US and Japan have yet to recover a downed fighter jet or its pilot, despite a week-long, around the clock search for the missing F-35.

On Tuesday, April 9th, a Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter disappeared from radar about 85 miles east of Misawa Air Base.

The pilot, 41-year old Major Akinori Hosomi reportedly did not issue a distress signal prior to falling off of radar.
