House Expected to Vote Wednesday on Condemning Anti-Semitism

Lawmakers in the House are  expected to vote  as early as Wednesday on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism.

Multiple outlets report  the resolution was drafted by staffers for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and other top Democrats.

A  copy of the draft resolution  obtained by Politico doesn't specifically name Rep.

Ilhan Omar.

But many see the text as a response to controversial comments the Minnesota Democrat made last week.

At an event, Omar insinuated that supporters of Israel's government are pushing "allegiance to a foreign country." A  number of people  in her own party accused Omar of anti-Semitism, but  Omar later said  she's simply questioning U.S. policy toward Israel.

Last month, the House overwhelmingly approved a Republican motion to condemn anti-Semitism after Omar  suggested on Twitter  that U.S. lawmakers are paid to support Israel.

Omar is one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress.

Her office declined to comment on the Democratic resolution Monday.
