Pakistan, India tensions rise with air strikes from both nuclear neighbours

Pakistan carried out air strikes and shot down two Indian jets on Wednesday (February 27), Pakistani officials said, a day after Indian warplanes struck inside Pakistan for the first time since a war in 1971, prompting several world powers to urge both sides to show restraint.

Raveesh Kumar, a spokesman for India's foreign ministry, said that India shot down one Pakistani plane that landed in Pakistani territory, and that it had lost one of its own planes, with the pilot "missing in action".
