Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year is...

Oxford Dictionary has revealed their word of the year and it's not a fun one.

Keri Lumm reports.

Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year is...

If you could sum up 2018, what word would you use?

????Well, donโ€™t spend time thinking of the word because the Oxford Dictionary has picked for you and their word of the yeart is Toxic.????In a statement the dictionary said quote: "In 2018, toxic added many strings to its poisoned bow becoming an intoxicating descriptor for the yearโ€™s most talked about topics."????The word had a 45% rise in searches, and it wasnโ€™t looked up alone.

Toxic was used with other terms like toxic chemical and toxic masculinity.????Unbelievably, they do not list Toxic and Britney Spears as popular search terms.????While toxic might have been dubbed the Word of the Year, but there were some good runners up.????Big BLEEPPP Energy or BDE certainly had a moment thanks to Ariana Grande describing Pete Davidson.??And since the Oxford Dictionary is based in the UK, it makes sense that A local word was on the list, cakeism...which they define as quote: the belief that it is possible to enjoy or take advantage of both of two desirable but mutually exclusive alternatives at once.????Thatโ€™s much easier than saying you can have your cake and eat it too.??
