Before You Start Taking Antidepressants, Ask Yourself These Four Questions
With all the alarming headlines about certain antidepressants on the market, little thought has been given as to how and why people start taking them in the first place.
Before starting on any antidepressant, the answers to the following questions may give some insight as to whether it's an appropriate choice.
First, how easy or difficult is it to carry out normal, daily activities like working, sleeping, and grooming?
Second, has therapy alone been effective?
Third, is this the first time battling depression without medication--or the twentieth?
Finally, do you even want to try antidepressants?
Don't discount feeling uncomfortable about taking medication--it's a legitimate feeling and should be discussed thoroughly with a psychiatric professional.
