South Korea's Moon taps new ambassador to U.S. as allies face North Korea, defense costs

South Korean President Moon Jae-in tapped a seasoned former diplomat as his new ambassador to Washington on Friday as South Korea steps up efforts to connect with the Trump administration on issues such as North Korea, defense costs and trade.

North Korea Warns US With Missile Launches
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently spoke out about his countryโ€™s latest launch of tactical guided missiles. According to Reuters, he said the missile were a warning to the U.S. and South korea. North Koreaโ€™s had four missiles launches in less than two weeks. State media KCNA said the launches โ€œverified the reliability, security and actual war capacity.โ€ These missile launches come amid stalled denuclearization talks with Washington and South Korea.
