Iran called on Monday on the United States to address the Islamic Republic with respect, not threat of war, a day after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Tehran in a tweet, raising concerns about a potential U.S.-Iran conflict.

Fears of a serious confrontation and possibly an outright war are rising as tensions between the US and Iran continue to grow. Business Insider reports Democrats, including a number of candidates for the 2020 Democratic nomination, have warned that President Donald Trump and his National Security Adviser John Bolton are "inching" toward conflict. However, the Trump administration rejects the notion that they are seeking a war and Iranian leaders have made similar assertions.
