Govt announces free Covid-19 vaccination from March 1 for those above 60 yrs of age

The Union government on Wednesday announced that those people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years of age with comorbidities will be vaccinated free of cost at government centres from March 1.

Updating about the second phase of vaccination rollout starting from March, Chairman of Empowered Group, RS Sharma, on February 26 said that the government is now changing its approach of vaccination to "demand-driven" unlike the earlier approach which was "supply-driven". "For second phase vaccination, starting March 1, people who want to be inoculated, they will have to register on CO-WIN platform. Both online and on-the-spot registrations are available. Vaccination will be free at government facility, and paid at private facility," said Chairman of Empowered Group
