Cyclone alert for Bengal, Odisha as 'Amphan' intensifies

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a cyclone alert for West Bengal and north Odisha coasts as an extremely severe cyclonic storm 'Amphan' was over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.

Normalcy returned in Odisha's Balasore on May 21 after cyclone Amphan wreaks havoc the area. People came out of their houses to buy daily essentials. Fruits vendors were seen selling their products on a street. According to a fruit vendor, administration had asked them not to venture out due the super cyclone Amphan. Cyclone Amphan made landfall in coastal regions of Odisha and West Bengal on May 20.
