Malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, which U.S. President Donald Trump says he has been taking, is tied to increased risk of death in COVID-19 patients, according to a study published in medical journal Lancet.

Trump Takes Hydroxychloroquine To Prevent Getting COVID-19
President Donald Trump announces he is taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventative medicine. Despite medical warnings from the FDA to not use the drug against the coronavirus, Trump is using it. He said: โ€œIโ€™ve been taking it for the last week and a half. A pill every day.โ€ According to Reuters, the drug was promoted by Trump as a potential treatment but studies found it wasnโ€™t helpful. The FDA said the drug gave patients with COVID-19 โ€œserious heart rhythm problems.โ€
