Google Pixel 8a may cost you about the same as Pixel 7a

Google Pixel 8a is likely set for launch at the company’s annual I/O developers conference. While there is no confirmation from Google about it, the rumours are rife that the next low-cost Pixel phone will cost you the same as last year’s Pixel 7a. An industry insider has claimed that Pixel 8a may sell between $500 and $550 in the US. That is approximately Rs 41,648 and Rs 45,813 in Indian rupees, about the same price as the Pixel 7a that debuted last year for Rs 43,999.

Tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed the price of the Pixel 8a will not see a hike as Google wants to woo Indian customers with the next affordable Pixel. While it is unclear what exactly the price of the Pixel 8a will be, it will be somewhere between Rs 41,000 and Rs 45,000 if the leaked US pricing is anything to go by. The Google Pixel 8a will counter some popular options such as Nothing Phone 2 and Samsung Galaxy S23 FE at this price.

Google Pixel 8a rumoured specifications

The Google Pixel 8a will include some notable upgrades, such as the latest Tensor G3 processor, which also powers last year’s Pixel 8 flagship duo. Some rumours, however, have pointed out that Google may tweak the processor slightly to incorporate IPoP (Integrated Package on Package) to enhance the performance. The Pixel 8a may come with a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with up to a refresh rate of 120Hz, offering ultra-smooth animations and scrolling. It may also feature a 4500mAh battery, a significant upgrade over the Pixel 7a’s 4385mAh battery. Google may equip the Pixel 8a with 27W fast charging.

Google will reportedly not make changes to the cameras and include the same ones as the Pixel 8. That means the Pixel 8a will come with a 64MP main sensor with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 13MP ultrawide camera. A 13MP camera may be available for selfies and video calls on the Pixel 8a, according to reports. Google may also incorporate its premium photography algorithms on the Pixel 8a to make photos look detail-rich and sharp.
