A number of businesses and individuals based in the Midlands have been named on a list of tax dodgers by HMRC. The list has been published by the tax authority to serve as a warning that anyone who avoids paying tax will be pursued and their names made public.

It revealed details of how much tax wasn't paid over a certain period and penalties that were subsequently handed out. HMRC publishes the list of 'tax dodgers' every few months and says it does so to act as a deterrent and to encourage those named to "engage" with them.

A person or business is named publicly if they have deliberately defaulted on more than £25,000 in tax, HMRC says. A handful of companies and people based in the West Midlands were named on the latest list.
