Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, has been accused of assaulting a paparazzi in Sydney, Australia, adding intrigue to the ongoing Eras Tour. The incident occurred while the 34-year-old Swift was busy with her sold-out tour. Now the recent reports suggest that Australian police have dropped the charges.
Reportedly, the police have said they won't investigate further into the incident where Scott Swift allegedly got into a scuffle with a photographer.
This reportedly happened on February 27, 2024, while Taylor Swift was finishing her tour in Australia. She and her father were heading to a yacht party when the incident supposedly occurred.
The report further claim that Scott Swift allegedly assaulted Ben McDonald, a 51-year-old paparazzi, who asserted himself as the victim of the assault. McDonald lodged a complaint with the New South Wales Police Department, stating that he was uncertain if Scott was the person who struck him. According to TMZ, Ben simply sought a formal apology from Scott to withdraw all charges.
However, The New South Wales Police Department has opted to close the case without requiring an apology. According to MailOnline's interview with the police, it appears that no additional steps will be taken regarding the incident. Officials indicate that the purported victim did not require medical attention, as McDonald only mentioned feeling "very sore chops" on the left side of his face.
To the same outlet, Ben said, "He probably decided he needed to defend his daughter, for some reason," and added, "In 23 years I have never seen anything like it. She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces."
The Blank Space singer’s representative told MailOnline, "Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water."
McDonald says Scott rushed at him, and there are some videos that partly show this. But since no charges have been proven, the issue has been dropped now.
