Bombay HC stops release of Indrani Mukerjea web series; Makers to arrange special screening for CBI

Indrani Mukerjea has spilled the beans in a docu series, promising to give her side of the story in the disappearance of her daughter 25-year-old Sheena Bora.
She was one of the accused in the case and the CBI had filed a plea seeking a stay on the release of the docu series, since the trial in the Sheena Bora murder case is still ongoing. The investigating agency had also objected, stating that the series could impact the investigation of the case, its outcome and people's perception.
According to ANI, Bombay HC instructed the streaming platform to halt the release, which was scheduled for tomorrow, February 23.
The next herding is scheduled for Thursday, February 29 and Netflix has been instructed to arrange a special screening for CBI officers.
In its plea, CBI had mentioned that the 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth' featured interviews of the accused and several witnessess too, following which the HC instructed the streaming platform to submit the exact number of witnesses who have been interviewed in the series. It has been revealed that five witnesses have been interviewed for the series, which includes Indrani's son, Mikhael and her daughter, Vidhie Mukerjea.
In 2015, Indrani Mukerjea was arrested, for alleged murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora. It was reported that she received aide from her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, present husband Peter Mukerjea and driver Shyamvar Rai. In 2021, the Bombay High Court rejected her bail plea but in May 2022, the Supreme Court granted bail to Mukerjea.
