Bombay HC verdict on pleas against new IT rules on January 15

MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Friday said it will pronounce on January 15 its verdict on petitions challenging the amended- Information Technology Rules against fake news pertaining to the government on social media.
Justices Gautam Patel and Neela Gokhale on September 29 had reserved the verdict. Solicitor general Tushar Mehta said that his earlier statement, that until judgment is delivered the Centre will not notify the Fact Checking Unit, will continue.As per the amended Rules, an FCU is to be set up to identify and flag off fake, false and misleading facts on social media. tnn
