AGRA: It was double joy for Virat Kohli fans in UP's Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. The ace cricketer not just scored a spectacular century and equalled legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record against South Africa at the World Cup in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on his 35th birthday, but his fans were also treated to some special biryani for free in a popular eatery.
Mohd Danish Rizwan, owner of the biryani outlet, said, “In the last match, Virat scored 88 runs and so we gave a discount of 88% for a plate of our famous ‘Muzaffarnagar chicken biryani’. On Virat’s birthday, we announced biryani for free at a 100% discount. Adding to our joy was his century. This is a huge milestone for Indian cricket. Over 500 customers -- locals and outsiders – availed of the offer.”
Posters also came up near the restaurant, saying: “The more runs Virat Kohli scores, the more biryani discount you’ll get.”
Rizwan added: “If there is a way to reach out to Virat, I'll certainly want to serve him our special biryani.” Ziaur Rahman, a local cricketer, who ordered several plates for his family, said, “It is not about discount or free of cost, it is all about our emotions.” Another city-based fan, Mohd Faizal, added, “Our team is playing well... I just hope and pray, we can repeat Dhoni's 2011 feat.” Mohd Dilshad
