Amid these speculations, West Ham striker Michail Antonio has shed light on Salah's desire to leave Liverpool this summer, fueled by interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. Antonio revealed this during an interview on the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
"He didn't turn that down, no way," Antonio asserted. "He was locked up, and the Reds had put that red arrow across. You are not going anywhere. He did not stop that at all. To be fair to him, he didn't kick up a fuss and let them do what they were doing. But I know for a fact that he was ready to go," Antonio added.
Antonio further discussed Salah's motivations after spending six years at Anfield. "What else can he do at Liverpool? He's done it. It's [Saudi Arabia] a great opportunity for him. He is a Muslim man, and it had everything screaming out for him," Antonio opined. "There was no actual negative for the man not to go. I understand he has a contract, which he has fulfilled," Antonio explained.
Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to move to Saudi Arabia lies with Salah himself. He will need to carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a choice. Salah, aged 31, who signed a three-year contract extension with Liverpool last year, has been instrumental in the club's successes, including winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
