BHOPAL: Police on Monday recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy who got washed away after the water level of a waterfall in Madhya Pradesh's Raisen district rose suddenly on Sunday evening.
More than 50 people who had gone for a picnic at Mahadev Pani, a rain-fed waterfall in Raisen district close to Bhopal, were trapped after water level suddenly increased.

The others who got trapped were rescued as soon as the water level decreased.
The deceased has been identified as Vidhan Sen, a resident of Entkhedi in Bhopal, said police.
The Mahadev Pani waterfall is situated at a distance of around 5km from the main Raisen road. The narrow road between the main road to the picnic spot has several culverts in between. People often go for picnics at these spots too, apart from the main Mahadev Pani waterfall.
“Sen had come with his friends for a picnic. We got information that some tourists were trapped due to the increase in water level of the waterfall. We rushed to the spot, around 25 people were at the main waterfall, and there were several others who were trapped due to the increase in water level. We rescued them. It was then that the friends of the deceased informed that he was missing. Search operation was started, senior officials also reached the spot, along with SDERF teams. His body was found at around 1.30am”, Umraoganj police station incharge, Sheikh Kafeel said.

“No one is trapped as of now but as a precaution we are still carrying out our search operations”, he added.
“Water level suddenly increased and people who were on the narrow road got trapped for sometime as water was overflowing on the road. A youth also got washed away, not at the main waterfall but at one of these culverts on the way to the main waterfall where he was taking a bath with his friends. His body was later found late at night. All the other people were rescued. We searched from main road to the end point”, district collector Raisen, Arvind Dubey said.
“Forest department which maintains the waterfall has been instructed to put up a board at the main road and close the waterfall for the monsoon season”, he added.
